Our programme is aimed at promoting confidence, discipline and well being. Offered to children in year 6 with transport for the children paid for from the school to the Pontefract Squash Club, the programme can be developed for individual school needs.
Sport, education, activity
This allows the children to engage in sporting activities that they may not normally be involved in but to also compliment their education. The children can become involved in a community provider of sport and can continue to play squash and be involved in the activities provided by PSLC both themselves and their parents or carers.
The programme is under the direction of Malcolm Wilstrop, a leading squash coach who has previously led James Wilstrop and Samuel Todd to victory. As a previous teacher himself, the children will undertake a number of subjects in a squash context of which include: English, Maths, History and Geography. This educational programme has been developed with teachers and compliments the OFSTED requirements for the relevant Key Stages.
The funding the Foundation receives helps to go towards paying for the services of the coaches as well as the equipment for the children to use and their transport to and from the squash club.
